5 Great Trips for an Active Fall Getaway

This fall, get outside, plan a trip, and enjoy nature before the temps drop too low. We've compiled some of our favorite active getaways - from pickleball to mountain biking, there’s something for everyone!

1. Hiking - The National Parks:

This is THE time to visit one of the 63 National Parks for many reasons. #1, the crowds are at a minimum; #2, the leaves are changing; #3 the cool weather is perfect for long hikes; #4, the entry and lodging prices often drop; #5, wildlife abounds! You can even catch one of the Free Entrance Days: September 23 to celebrate National Public Lands Day and November 11 to commemorate Veterans Day. Wherever you are in the U.S., there’s a Park that’s not too far away. In California, trek to the towering Bridalveil Falls in Yosemite and surround yourself with the giant sequoias, or experience the options of 850 miles of trail inside the Great Smoky Mountains in the Southeast. Don’t let foot pain slow you down. The perfect hiking companion is Copper Fit’s Arch Relief Plus. It helps reduce discomfort associated with fallen arches, flat feet, and plantar fasciitis, with a built-in adaptive orthotic form that fits your foot. It also fits easily in most footwear with the adjustable compression strap for a secure fit. Don’t leave home without it!

2. Running - Vermont:

Runners love fall. The weather is optimal, and the views, especially in the northeast, are phenomenal - who wouldn’t want to run in vibrant foliage? Sign up for a fall run whether you are a beginner or a seasoned pro. And a great way to involve the whole family is to combine an apple-picking, leaf-viewing trip with a destination race. Why sign up for a run? The sense of community is one top reason, and the increased motivation when running with others often means improved performance. Look for options at www.runvermont.org/races. Don’t forget to pack layered clothing (think base layer, mid-layers, and jacket) and dress in the right fabrics that are quick drying and breathable, like Copper Fit’s Men’s Long Sleeve Ultra Performance Crew Neck Shirt, so that you can handle any weather.

3. Pickleball - Florida:

Did you know Naples, Florida, is known as the "Pickleball Capital of the World"? Many cities in this sunny state host numerous public and private courts and major tournaments. With fall temps in the mid-70s, Florida is the place for outdoor pickleball playing or viewing. Check out the World Pickleball Open at Palm Beach Gardens Tennis and Pickleball Center November 16-19. If you haven’t hopped on the pickleball bandwagon yet, try it! It’s easy to learn and low-impact, which is excellent for seniors. Copper Fit compression technology provides support that may help you stay injury-free. Like Copper Fit’s ICE Compression Knee Sleeve,  a lightweight compressive knee brace offers increased comfort and stability without limiting freedom of movement. Even better, it’s infused with micro-encapsulated menthol and CoQ10 to aid achy muscles.

4. Golf - Arizona:

Fall, specifically late fall, is the ideal time to visit Arizona, especially if you want to spend the day golfing. The weather is close to perfect (bye-bye scorching summer heat!), and there are over 200 courses in the Greater Phoenix area, including world-renowned courses like TPC Scottsdale. After a long day of golf, the dining options are vast, with many James Beard-nominated restaurants and no shortage of Sonoran Mexican dishes that the area is known for. And it’s not just about 18 holes; get to Sedona, set in thespectacular Red Rock country of northern Arizona's high desert with phenomenal hiking trails in a truly stunning landscape

5. Mountain Biking  - Utah:

The turning fall leaves, coupled with the several hundred miles of trails for biking, make mountain biking in Utah pretty epic! Park City and Saint George have some favorite destinations, while Moab hosts the “most famous” mountain biking trail in Utah - The Whole Enchilada. Besides the moderate temps, fall trails aren’t as dusty and loose as the hot summer months due to mild precipitation this time of year.

Bonus!

We can’t forget another bonus destination: the San Juan Islands in Washington for wildlife chasing. Treat yourself to a getaway of kayaking, hiking - and probably whale sightings too!
