What is Your Workout Personality?

We all have unique personalities, which naturally extend to our "workout" personalities as well! Have you ever considered what yours might be? Often, we shift between different workout styles depending on the time of year, what's happening in our lives, and how our bodies feel. Mixing up your workouts to prevent boredom, avoid burnout, and reduce the risk of overusing certain muscle groups is essential. Plus, by working on different muscles and rotating between flexibility and endurance, you'll help your body age more gracefully.

However, you probably lean toward a specific kind of workout most of the time. Which personality do you tend to be? Let’s explore!

The Social Butterfly:

It's no coincidence that this workout personality is more outgoing. You find it motivating to work out with others - and you like to encourage others, too! The camaraderie at the gym keeps your spirits high, and you love to socialize, with your mantra being "Make it fun!" Signing up for classes and having a regular group to meet with keeps you accountable and engaged.

  • Workout Suggestion: Find a gym that has multiple workout options, from cycling to Zumba - and you’ll meet lots of friends, too!
  • Copper Fit Suggestion: Start from the ground up with socks built to keep your feet supported and energized. Shop our top-rated Energy Sport Ankle Socks.

The Free-Spirit:

Your #1 workout fear is being bored. You rotate your workouts and engage in many different types of exercise, depending on what you feel like on any given day and what your workout buddies are doing. One day, it might be a mellow walk, and the next, a high-intensity boot camp. You fit in anywhere and get a burst of excitement with each new class or experience, declaring it your favorite until the next one comes along. Your exercise consistency comes from your ability to stay motivated by trying new things whenever you feel uninspired.

  • Workout Suggestion: Hike! There are always new trails, and you can invite friends to join. You’d also enjoy ClassPass, a monthly subscription service with access to various studios, gyms, and spas.
  • Copper Fit Suggestion: Wherever your workout takes you, provide support for achy feet and relief from fallen arches, flat feet, and plantar fasciitis with Arch Relief Plus - an adjustable compression band with a built-in adaptive arch orthotic. It can be worn with or without shoes.

The Competitor:

You are goal-oriented and driven by personal achievement, with a competitive streak that sometimes enjoys outperforming others. With a "get it done" attitude, you seek maximum impact in minimal time. A long walk with a podcast isn't your style—it might even sound boring to you! You crave the adrenaline rush of getting your heart pumping and love the endorphin high that comes with intense workouts.

  • Workout Suggestion: Bootcamp-style classes will give you what you need. CrossFit is a great option and is scalable for beginners and experts. At Orangetheory, your competitive nature will enjoy seeing how your workout is compared to the other participants on the screen.
  • Copper Fit Suggestion: Support and protect your knees from injury, especially when working out hard. Copper Fit has many options, and the Freedom Knee Sleeve is an excellent place to start; it offers an improved performance fabric blend that provides mild to moderate compression for all-day comfort.

The Zen Seeker:

You are looking to recharge at the beginning or the end of the day with calm surroundings, not thumping gym music. You enjoy gentle yet challenging activities where there is time to think and contemplate, where you can control the environment and the pace.

  • Workout Suggestion: Running and weightlifting allow you to set the tone and provide plenty of time to connect with yourself, think, and focus on your journey. Yoga is, of course, an excellent activity for the Zen Seeker!
  • Copper Fit Suggestion: Ankle stability is critical for any workout, and the Pro Series Compression Ankle Sleeve can take you from a morning run to pilates. Comfort is key - the light to medium targeted compression and ultra-soft, breathable material provides a second-skin feel.

The Planner:

You have a very specific workout regimen with a structured routine. And you don’t miss a workout! This very goal-driven workout personality is always focused on working up to more - lifting more weights, running farther, swimming faster. You love to use fitness apps to track progression.

  • Workout Suggestions: This personality thrives on a goal. Sign up for a race - maybe a mini-triathlon to start? Check out active.com for options.
  • Copper Fit Suggestion: Recovery is key. Check out Copper Fit’s recovery options here. Knee wrapsback support, and more - Copper Fit has got you covered!
